ODI World Cup 2023: Five Exciting Talents Who Will Be Making Their Debut

ODI World Cup 2023: Modern-day batting greats like Shubman Gill and Cameron Green will be making their ODI World Cup debut this year.

ODI World Cup 2023: Check below list of five exciting, promising talents who will be playing their first-ever ODI World Cup and can create significant impacts for their respective teams in the mega ICC tournament.

Shubman Gill, a highly promising batting talent, at just 24 years old, has established himself as a crucial part of the Indian cricket setup. His impressive journey includes being a World Cup winner when he played a pivotal role in India's U-19 World Cup triumph in 2018. The Orange Cap winner of IPL 2023 with 890 runs in 17 matches has already amassed 1230 runs in just 20 outings in One-Day-Internationals. Gill is poised for great success and the 2023 World Cup could serve as a significant platform for his career.

Suryakumar Yadav's journey to team India hasn't been quite easy. At the age when some cricketers start considering retirement, Suryakumar's consistent performances in the Indian Premier League (IPL) helped him earn a T20I debut for India in 2021 at the age of 31. The 'late bloomer' is an absolute game-changer. Suryakumar Yadav's exploits in T20Is is known to all but he has struggled in ODIs. His potential to decimate any bowling attack with his aggressive batting forced the team management to include him in India's World Cup squad. Suryakumar's presence in the team adds an exciting dimension to India's batting lineup.

Ever since his international debut in 2020, Aussie star Cameroon Green's cricketing career has seen a remarkable upward trajectory. The 24-year-old went on to establish himself as a valuable asset in all three formats of the game for Australia.  Green's skill set includes being a right-arm fast-medium bowler, a proficient middle-order batsman, and an outstanding fielder --  skills which make him a player to watch out for in any format or any ground all over the world.

England's hard-hitting middle-order batsman Harry Brooks' style of play is ideally suited for white-ball cricket. The 24-year-old has the potential to hit some big sixes. His explosive batting prowess adds another exciting dimension to England's batting lineup. He made his way into England's ODI setup on the back of some remarkable outings in Test cricket. Brooks was initially ignored when England Cricket Board (ECB) announced its provisional ODI World Cup squad, however, with Jason Roy still struggling with his fitness, Brook was welcomed into the squad with open arms.

Netherland's Bas de Leede comes from a cricketing family, with his father, Tim de Leede, having played in three World Cups. His all-round abilities make him a key player to watch as the Netherlands returns to the World Cup stage. Bas de Leede played a pivotal role in the Netherlands' success in the ODI World Cup qualification tournament. The 23-year-old bagged 15 wickets in ODI World Cup 2023 qualifying tournament, including a memorable 3/42 performance against 1996 CWC winners Sri Lanka.
