Nic Pothas appointed interim head coach of Windies men's team

Pothas has already served as the coach of Sri Lanka and was appointed as the fielding coach of the West Indies earlier in the year.

Nic Pothas, the former South African cricketer, has been named as the interim coach of West Indies for the tour of Bangladesh. His appointed came after former coach Stuart Law stepped down from his post after the conclusion of the India tour.

Jimmy Adams, the director of West Indies Cricket, confirmed the development and hoped that the side will continue making steady progress under Pothas’ tenure.

“Having Nic lead the team at this juncture is important for continuity and we look forward to strong and positive performances from the squad under his leadership,” Adams said.

At the same time, the Transvaal and Hampshire wicketkeeper-batsman expressed himself after getting new responsibilities. He said, “It is an honour to be asked to be the head coach of the West Indies Cricket team for the immediate future. The Bangladesh series will be a tough challenge which we look forward to embracing.

Law stepped down as he is scheduled to join the English County Middlesex following a four-year deal. Under Law's stint, the West Indies won Tests in England and against Pakistan in UAE.

Pothas has already served as the coach of Sri Lanka and was appointed as the fielding coach of the West Indies earlier in the year. He will join the team once again which is scheduled to play the first Test of the series against Bangladesh, beginning from November 22 in Chittagong.
