Nepal, West Indies To Feature In Groundbreaking Bilateral T20I Series

Nepal, West Indies will play each other in a historic bilateral T20I series. Read below for details.

Cricket’s global family expands this September when Nepal officially hosts the West Indies in a historic three-match T20I series at the iconic Sharjah Cricket Stadium. Scheduled for September 27, 28 and 30, this marks the first-ever bilateral Men’s T20I series between Nepal and the Caribbean side.

For Nepal, this series is strategically timed ahead of its final leg in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Asia/East Asia-Pacific Qualifier, where only three of nine teams will secure World Cup slots.

The Sharjah matches provide not just match practice, but a chance to sharpen skills against experienced opponents.

This series is equally valuable for West Indies, offering a preparation stage for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026. CWI chief executive Chris Dehring underlined this, stating:

“This series is more than just a set of international matches—it’s a celebration of the game’s expanding global footprint and a testament to what cricket represents: pride, purpose, and the power of unity.”

Dehring emphasised the responsibility of established cricketing nations to nurture emerging talent:

"As a full-member nation, we see it as part of our responsibility to contribute to the development of cricket beyond our borders. Supporting Nepal in this key phase of their cricketing journey… reminds us of the deep pride and honour associated with representing our nation and wearing our national colours."

This series, hosted jointly by the Cricket Association of Nepal and Emirates Cricket Board, represents a collaboration rooted in shared ambition to grow the sport across regions.

Nepal will enter this showdown fresh from participating in a tri-series in Scotland, while their Caribbean counterparts will be building momentum from an ongoing series in Ireland . Although the matches are in a neutral venue, the designation of Nepal as the “host” reinforces the significance of goodwill and opportunity this tour creates .

Matches Schedule

  • 1st T20I: September 27
  • 2nd T20I: September 28
  • 3rd T20I: September 30
