'It Hurts': David Warner Opens Up About Getting Dropped From Sunrisers Hyderabad In IPL 2021

Warner shuns his critics in the business half of the T20 World Cup and scored runs for Australia when it mattered the most. Warner scored a 53 in the final and a crucial 49 in the semi-final.

David Warner was adjudged the Man of the tournament in the recently concluded T20 World Cup in the UAE. The Aussie left-hander was under a lot of scrutinies during the Indian Premier League. He was even dropped from Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) Playing XI and also was stripped of his captaincy.

Warner was under pressure to perform and prove his mettle yet again, as a batsman. He shuns his critics in the business half of the T20 World Cup and scored runs for Australia when it mattered the most. Warner scored a 53 in the final and a crucial 49 in the semi-final.

On being dropped from SRH, Warner said, "When you are dropped from the team you have loved the most for years without any real fault of yours and stripped of captaincy without being given a reason, it hurts." He was speaking in an interview with the Economic Times.

In the same breath, he had no complaints against it. He said, "the fans in India have always been there for me and it is for them that you play. We play to entertain. We play to push for excellence."

David Warner was disappointed and was itching to make a strong comeback. "Sport is a great leveller and if you are true to the sport and keep working hard, you will always have a second chance. I just wanted to keep working the hardest and stay true. I am glad it worked out for me," Warner added in his reply.
