IPL 2020 | Should Have Bowled First: KKR Skipper Morgan Admits To Misreading Conditions During Toss Against RCB

After being handed the of the season, Morgan said that he misread the wicket and conditions and bowling first could have been a better option on the Abu Dhabi wicket. The KKR skipper also lauded the RCB bowling unit for their splendid bowling display.

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) skipper Eoin Morgan took the blame for his team's massive 8-wicket defeat to Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in an IPL 2020 encounter played at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi on Wednesday. KKR were trounced by RCB in a one sided contest after Kohli's 'Red Brigade' bowling unit restricted the Knights to a meagre 84/8 in 20 overs (the lowest score by any team in the IPL batting first), and chased down the 85-run target breaking no sweat with over six overs to spare. After being handed their fifth loss of the season, Morgan admitted that he misread the wicket  and conditions and bowling first could have been a better option on the Abu Dhabi wicket. The KKR skipper also lauded the RCB bowling unit for their splendid bowling display. KKR Skipper Eoin Morgan Admits To Making A Wrong Decision Of Bowling First At The Toss "Being four-five down early on isn't the position we wanted to be in. RCB bowled well, and probably looking at the conditions, we should have bowled first," said Morgan. "They managed to exploit anything that was on offer and given the nature of the tournament, every time you have to be at your best against every team," he added. KKR's Batting Unit  Fell Like Pack Of Cards In Abu Dhabi KKR, who were already dented by the absence of their frontline overseas players Andre Russell and Sunil Narine did not fare well at all in their batting efforts as the frontline batsmen fell like a pack of cards against a formidable seam bowling spell by the RCB speedsters. "Hopefully they (Narine and Russell) will be available round the corner. We know when guys of that calibre, particularly all-rounders, are available, things will be different. Hopefully they will be available soon," he said.
