India, the only undefeated team so far in ODI World Cup 2023, are in excellent form with a perfect record of six wins out of six matches and are considered the team to beat in this tournament.
India vs Pakistan in ODI World Cup 2023 semifinal: The desire for an India-Pakistan ICC Men’s ODI World Cup semi-final is shared by cricket fans worldwide. However, Pakistan's performance in the competition has been far from ideal. With three wins out of seven games, they currently occupy the fifth spot. In contrast, India are in excellent form with a perfect record of six wins out of six matches and are considered the team to beat in this tournament. They are the only undefeated team so far.
Nonetheless, there is still a possibility for Pakistan to make it to the semi-finals. To achieve this, Pakistan must first win their remaining two matches and then rely on New Zealand losing their remaining games. In such a scenario, Pakistan would secure the fourth position, setting up a potential India-Pakistan clash.
In the recent match, South Africa secured a remarkable 190-run victory over New Zealand in match 32 of the ICC Men’s ODI World Cup 2023, held at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune on November 1. New Zealand's third consecutive loss in the tournament has dropped them to the fourth position in the points table. On the other hand, South Africa have now taken the top spot with 12 points and with a fantastic net run rate over 2.
During their innings, South Africa posted a total of 357/4, largely thanks to a magnificent 200-run partnership between centurions Quinton de Kock (116) and Rassie van der Dussen (133). Their innings received a late boost from David Miller (53).
In the second innings, Marco Jansen's early double wickets put South Africa in control during the Powerplay. Subsequently, Gerald Coetzee and Kagiso Rabada added to the wicket tally. Keshav Maharaj, the spinner, played a pivotal role by taking four wickets as New Zealand was bundled out for 167 in 35.3 overs, ensuring a dominant victory for South Africa.
India will play against the Asian rivals Sri Lanka on November 2 (Thursday) at Mumbai's Wankhede Stadium. If they win, India will reclaim the top spot on the tournament’s points table.
