IND vs ENG 5th Test: BCCI Prez Sourav Ganguly 'Unsure' About Manchester Test, Support Staff Tests Covid Positive

BCCI President Sourav Ganguly told PTI that at the current moment he is unsure whether the fifth and final Test against England will go ahead or not.

New Delhi: Uncertainty looms large over the 5th and final test match of India and England, slated to be played in Manchester starting Friday, as another support staff from the Indian cricket team tested Covid-19 positive on Thursday.

BCCI President Sourav Ganguly told PTI that at the current moment he is unsure whether the fifth and final Test against England will go ahead or not.

"We don't know if the match will happen at the moment. Hopefully, we can get some game," said Ganguly during a book launch event in Kolkata.

After head coach Ravi Shastri and bowling coach Bharath Arun, the India cricket team's junior physio Yogesh Parmar tested positive for COVID-19 on Thursday.

Parmar testing positive also leaves the team Indian without a physio as the main physio Nitin Patel is already in isolation.

PTI reports that the BCCI has requested England and Wales Cricket Board to spare a physio.

Meanwhile, RT-PCR test reports of the players are still awaited and they have been told to remain in their respective rooms as the practice session was dismissed.

"The results of the RT-PCR tests (of players) are expected later in the day depending on which the fate of the game will be decided," said a BCCI source.

All the players and the support staff are fully vaccinated but both teams are not operating in strict bio-bubbles with life in the UK almost back to normal.

India lead the five-match series 2-1.
