IND vs WI: Yashasvi Jaiswal Becomes 17th Indian To Score A Test Hundred On Debut

IND vs WI: Both the openers have put on a 200-run opening partnership for Team India.

Yashasvi Jaiswal became the seventeenth Indian batter to score a hundred on Test debut. He achieved the feat during India's first innings of the first Test match against West Indies at the Windsor Park in Dominica. He became the fourteenth Indian batter to get to the three figures mark in his debut innings in the longest format of the game.

As soon as he got to that landmark, he joined an elite list of cricketers that includes Deepak Shodhan, AG Kripal Singh, Hanumant Singh, Surinder Amarnath, Mohammad Azharuddin, Pravin Amre, Sourav Ganguly, Virender Sehwag, Suresh Raina, Shikhar Dhawan, Rohit Sharma, Prithvi Shaw, Shreyas Iyer to score a hundred in maiden Test innings. Lala Amarnath, Abbas Ali Baig and Gundappa Viswanath also scored a hundred on Test debut but reached there in the second innings.

Jaiswal's knock along with Rohit Sharma's innings, who too is approaching his hundred, has extended India's dominance over West Indies in this Test match after the Men in Blue had bowled out the hosts for 150 in the first innings. The have put on a 200-run opening stand already and are still looking going strong.

Talking about Jaiswal's knock, the left-handed batter took 16 deliveries before he scored his first run. There was a clear trend in his batting with him taking his time whenever he came back after break be it after a rain interruption on Day 1 or when he resumed his innings on Day 2.
