Stokes scored a remarkable century at Old Trafford — his first in Test cricket in nearly three years. Earlier in the same match, he picked up a five-wicket haul, ending an eight-year wait for such a feat in Tests. With this double, Stokes etched his name in the record books:

He became the first England captain to score a century and take five wickets in the same Test match.

Overall, he is the fourth English player to do so, after Ian Botham, Tony Greig, and Gus Atkinson.

Stokes reached another career milestone in the same game by completing 7,000 runs in Test cricket. He now joins the legendary duo of Gary Sobers and Jacques Kallis as the only players with 7,000+ runs and 200+ wickets in the format.
