Shocking! No Indian, Australian Players As ICC Announce Men's ODI Team Of The Year 2024

No Indian or Australian player makes a cut in the Featured XI, as ICC announce Men's ODI Team of the Year 2024. Read below.

It sounds as shocking as it can be, but, cricket fans are about to face a harsh reality that the two giants of the sport - India and Australia, have failed to make a cut into the ICC Men's ODI Team of the Year 2024, as the side features the players from Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Afghanistan, and West Indies.

2024's ODI Team of the Year does not feature even a single player from teams, that have won the last major mega events of ICC since 2019. The last time Pakistan won an ICC mega event was the 2017 Champions Trophy, where they defeated India in the final. Sri Lanka's last ICC mega event triumph was the 2014 T20 World Cup. , where they too, defeated India in the final.

West Indies' last ICC trophy was the 2016 T20 World Cup, where the side won an iconic final at the Eden Gardens, as Carlos Brathwaite smashed 4 consecutive sixes off Ben Stokes' bowling in the final over to win the tournament for the Caribbean nation.

Afghanistan is an emerginat nation, and by the looks of their immense and rapid growth, it is a matter of time that they will be called amongst the giants of cricket.

India failed to win an ODI in 2024, whereas, Australia, the reigning World champions in Test and ODI cricket, succumbed to a home series defeat to Pakistan.

South Africa, England, Bangladesh, and New Zealand failed to make a major impact in the ODI's, as Sri Lanka reign supreme with four players in the Featured XI.
