Ben Stokes set a new record for the fastest half-century in England's Test cricket history. He became the fourth fastest player in the world to score a fifty.

England captain Ben Stokes broke Ian Botham's 43-year-old record during his team's 3-0 whitewash of West Indies in ENG vs WI 3rd Test on Sunday (July 28). On the third day of the match, Stokes-led England secured a decisive 10-wicket victory over the visitors.

Captain Ben Stokes caused a stir at Edgbaston with his explosive batting, creating a historic moment in cricket. Opening the innings, he delivered a breathtaking performance, scoring an unbeaten 57 runs off just 28 balls at a strike rate of 203.57. Stokes' innings included 9 fours and 2 sixes, and he reached his fifty in just 24 balls, setting a remarkable record.

Fastest half-century in England's Test cricket history

Stokes set a new record for the fastest half-century in England's Test cricket history. With this achievement, he became the fourth fastest player in the world to score a fifty. The overall record for the fastest Test half-century is held by former Pakistan batsman Misbah-ul-Haq, who reached fifty in just 21 balls against Australia in Abu Dhabi in 2014.

Australia's David Warner ranks second on the list, having scored a fifty in 23 balls vs Pakistan in Sydney in 2017. Former South African powerhouse Jacques Kallis is third, achieving the feat in 24 balls against Zimbabwe in Cape Town in 2005. Ben Stokes now holds the fourth position, with his record for the fastest half-century for England.

Ben Stokes breaks 43-year-old record

Ian Botham previously held the record for the fastest half-century for England, having scored fifty in just 28 balls against India in Delhi in 1981. Stokes surpassed this by reaching fifty in 24 balls. For England, Jonny Bairstow scored a fifty in 30 balls, and Ben Duckett achieved the feat in 32 balls.

England attain 10-wicket win over Windies in 3rd Test, seal series 3-0

Explosive knocks from Ben Stokes and Ben Duckett (unbeaten innings of 25 runs, hitting 4 fours off 16 balls) led England to a 10-wicket victory in ENG vs WI 3rd Test. With this win, England completed a 3-0 whitewash of West Indies in three-match ENG vs WI Test series.

In the third and final Test, West Indies scored 282 runs in their first innings, to which England responded with 376 runs. West Indies were then bowled out for 175 in their second innings, leaving England a target of just 82 runs.
