Kohli regrets picking 2 spinners against England at Lord's

After this terrific win, England lead the 5-match Test series 2-0

After losing the Lord’s Test by an innings and 159 runs, Virat Kohli admitted that they took the field against England with a ‘wrong combination’.

Unlike the English side, India opted to go with two spinners in the game. However, the continuously changing weather and overcast conditions didn’t provide any help. As a result, it happened for the first time in previous 36 matches that India lost by an innings under Kohli’s captaincy.

When asked about not having another seamer in the side, the Indian skipper said, “The weather was so unpredictable; I think we got the combination a bit off before the game.”

Speaking about the performance of the team, Kohli said, “I’m not proud of the way we've played. For the first time in the last five Tests that we've been outplayed. We deserved to lose this game, the way we went about things.”

“You can't really think about conditions when you're playing the game. You can't sit and crib about these things. Sometimes the rub of the green won't go your way. Even when the ball's doing a bit, you have to pitch it in the right areas. Their guys were relentless; they made us work for the runs.”

After this terrific win, England lead the 5-match Test series 2-0. The next match is scheduled to be played at Trent Bridge, Nottingham.
