Team India's former star middle-order batsman Suresh Raina decided to pullout of the 13th edition of the Indian Premier League, owing to "personal reasons". While some reports suggest that Raina decided to quit IPL after players and support staff of Chennai Super Kings (CSK) tested positive for Coronavirus, another theory suggests that the star batsman was disturbed by the murder of his 58-year-old uncle Ashok Kumar, a government contractor, during an alleged robbery attempt in Punjab's Pathankot.

News agency PTI reported that the incident took place at Thariyal village in Punjab's Pathankot district on the night intervening August 19 and 20. During the attack by the heavily armed robbers, Raina's aunt, and three more of his relatives, sustained injuries.

If reports are to be believed, the organised robbers of the Kale-Kachchewale gang targets families living in a isolated place, far away from crowded areas and thrash their victims before looting them.

Without revealing any names of the players or the franchise, BCCI in a press release revealed that two players have tested positive for the dreaded Coronavirus including an Indian fast-bowler and a top-order India A batsman.

"Thirteen personnel have tested positive of which 2 are players. All the affected personnel as well as their close contacts are asymptomatic and have been isolated from other team members. They are being monitored by the IPL Medical Team," the BCCI press release stated without naming the franchise. "As per the IPL 2020 Health and Safety Protocols, testing on all participants will be conducted regularly throughout the IPL 2020 Season," it further stated.
