India reached the Champions Trophy final for the first time in 2000 under Sourav Ganguly.

Champions Trophy 2025: Team India has secured a place in the semi-finals of ICC Champions Trophy 2025, with New Zealand also advancing from their group. Both teams will face off in their final group-stage match on March 2 at the Dubai International Stadium.

As the 9th edition of the Champions Trophy unfolds, let's take a look at India's history in the tournament and their appearances in the final.

India's Champions Trophy titles in 2002 and 2013

Team India has won the Champions Trophy twice, a record shared with Australia. The first title came in 2002 under Sourav Ganguly's captaincy when India and Sri Lanka were declared joint winners after the final was washed out due to rain. In 2013, under MS Dhoni's leadership, India defeated England in a rain-affected final to claim their second title.

India's runners-up finishes in 2000 and 2017

India reached the Champions Trophy final for the first time in 2000 under Sourav Ganguly. Despite his brilliant 117-run knock, New Zealand chased down the target and won by 4 wickets.

In 2017, India faced Pakistan in the final. Fakhar Zaman's blistering century (114 off 106) and Mohammad Amir's devastating spell (3 wickets) led Pakistan to a memorable 180-run win, preventing India from securing a third title.

Which team will India be up against in Champions Trophy 2025 semifinal?

India have officially booked its place in the semi-finals. Alongside India, New Zealand has also progressed from Group A.

India and New Zealand will play their third and final group-stage match against each other on Sunday. If India wins, it will finish at the top of the group and face the second-placed team from Group B. However, if India loses, it will take on the top-ranked team from Group B.

As of now, no team from Group B has officially secured a semi-final spot. South Africa and Australia lead the table with one win each, while England and Afghanistan are still searching for their first win. The final standings in Group B will ultimately decide India's semi-final opponent.
