BCCI official wants answers on 'leak' Of Mithali Raj's email: Reports

The BCCI acting secretary Amitabh Choudhary on Wednesday also sent an email to CEO Rahul Johri and General Manager, Cricket Operations, Saba Karim, seeking explanation on how the email sent by Mithali was leaked to the media

In an email to BCCI accusing head coach Ramesh Powar, India former ODI captain Mithalli Raj accused him and former captain Diana Edulji of leaving her "deflated, depressed and let down" with their actions during the recently concluded World T20 in West Indies.

A report in NDTV Sports suggests, The BCCI acting secretary Amitabh Choudhary on Wednesday also sent an email to CEO Rahul Johri and General Manager, Cricket Operations, Saba Karim, seeking explanation on how the email sent by Mithali was leaked to the media.

"I was taken aback by media reports today, obviously based on leaks, reporting the content of the email apparently written by Mithali Raj. I am not sure to whom the email was addressed though it remains a fact that the undersigned is a convener of the national women's selection committee and the concerned recipient(s) should immediately have copied the same to me," Choudhary said in an email to Johri and Karim.

"It is clear that the contents are extremely damaging to certain individual persons and, therefore, to the BCCI. Please let me know the facts of the case at the earliest," he added.

Reacting for the first time after her exclusion from the Indian side in the T20 World Cup semi-final against England, India ODI captain Mithali Raj accused women’s team head coach Ramesh Powar of humiliating her.

In a letter to BCCI, Mithali wrote "few people in power are out to destroy me" after the outrage triggered by her exclusion from India’s playing XI in the semifinal, which India lost by 8 wickets.

Mithali alleged that Edulji, who had backed her axing, "used her position against me".

The 35-year-old was dropped despite scoring back-to-back fifties in the group stage of the competition held in the West Indies.

"For the first time in a 20 year long career, I felt deflated, depressed and let down. I am forced to think if my services to my country are of any value to a few people in power who are out to destroy me and break my confidence," she wrote in a letter to BCCI CEO Rahul Johri and Cricket Operations GM Saba Karim.
