BCCI Announces Monetary Support For Indian Athletes Participating In Paris 2024 Olympics

BCCI Secretary Jay Shah announced monetary support for the Indian athletes set to compete in Paris 2024 Olympics.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced monetary support for Indian athletes participating in Paris 2024 Olympics. The announcement comes days before the start of the quadrennial event which is scheduled to get underway on July 24 (Wednesday).

Taking to social media, the BCCI Secretary Jay Shah wrote: "I am proud to announce that the @BCCI will be supporting our incredible athletes representing #India at the 2024 Paris Olympics. We are providing INR 8.5 Crores to the IOA for the campaign."

"To our entire contingent, we wish you the very best. Make India proud! Jai Hind! 🇮🇳 @Media_SAI || @WeAreTeamIndia || @Olympics || #Paris2024Olympics," he added.

Total Of 117 Indian Athletes Heading To Paris For Olympics

As many as 117 Indian athletes are heading to Paris to participate in the Summer Games. The contingent comprises of 70 males and 47 females. Even though the official opening ceremony of the tournament is scheduled on July 26, a few disciplines like Rugby 7s, group-stage matches of football as well as the ranking rounds in archery will start earlier itself.

India's campaign also kicks off before the opening ceremony itself with the individual archery ranking rounds on July 25. In case, Reetika Hooda makes it to the medal round in women's 76kg wrestling, India's campaign will conclude on the final day of the event itself - on August 11.
