Suryakumar Yadav Wasn't Discussed! Ajit Agarkar Explains Reason Behind Leaving Out T20I Captain From 50-Overs Side
Ajit Agarkar explained the reason behind leaving out Suryakumar Yadav from India's ODI side that will take on Sri Lanka.
Suryakumar Yadav, star India batter, was appointed as the captain of India's T20I side moving forward ahead of their team's tour of Sri Lanka. However, despite being the skipper of the T20I setup, Suryakumar, chief selector Ajit Agarkar revealed, was not considered for a place in the 50-overs side.
"No, we haven't discussed Surya (for ODIs) at this point. Shreyas (Iyer) is back, KL (Rahul) is back. They have had great World Cups (ODI). Rishabh (Pant) is back as well. So there is some real quality through that middle order. So at this point Surya is a T20I player," Agarkar told in India's pre-departure press conference in which he was accompanied by head coach Gautam Gambhir.
India's white-ball tour of Sri Lanka will commence with three T20Is which will be followed by three ODIs.
