WATCH: After match, Ashwin comes face-to-face with Buttler

KXIP skipper Ashwin sparked controversy by Mankading Rajasthan Royals wicket-keeper batsman Jos Buttler without giving a proper warning during the fourth match of IPL 2019 at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur on Monday

Kings XI Punjab captain Ravichandran Ashwin sparked controversy by Mankading Rajasthan Royals wicket-keeper batsman Jos Buttler without giving a proper warning during the fourth match of IPL 2019 at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur on Monday.

In a first in 12 editions of the IPL, Ashwin ran out Buttler, who was at the non-strikers' end, on his delivery stride in the 13th over, a term popularly known as 'Mankading'. TV replays showed that Ashwin had waited to let Buttler move out of the crease before removing the bails.

After the incident, Butler was very angry with Ashwin for getting him dismissed this way. A video is getting viral on social media in which all the players and team staff are shaking hands with each other after the match, but when Ashwin and Butler face each other, Buttler refused to shake hands with the KXIP skipper.

Ashwin has his say on the controversy

Ashwin said he was completely within his rights to execute such a dismissal, which completely turned the match in Kings XI's favour.

"No real argument on that and it was pretty instinctive. I didn't even load and he just left the crease. We ended on the right side of the coin, but I definitely think that those are game-changing moments and batsmen need to be wary of it," Ashwin said after Kings XI beat Rajasthan by 14 runs.
