Afghanistan board president resigns 3 years before his term ends

Azizullah Fazli has been appointed as the new chairman of the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) but by the country's president Ashraf Ghani after Atif Mashal stood down after a year of appointment.

"Azizullah Fazli appointed Chairman of Afghanistan Cricket Board by President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan and Patron-in-Chief of Afghanistan Cricket Board, H.E @ashrafghani. He replaces @MashalAtif," a tweet posted by the ACB read.
During Mashal's term, Afghanistan cricket made some significant progress in terms of upgradation of infrastructure, development of domestic structure and improvement in the national team's ranking.
Afghanistan stunned Sri Lanka in their Asia Cup opener to confirm a place in the super four stage along with Bangladesh from Group B.
