Mandeep Singh has been shifted to SS Sparsh multispeciality hospital on Monday night after his oxygen level dropped below normal.
Hockey player Mandeep, who was amongst the six players who tested positive in the national camp was shifted to hospital after showing severe COVID symptoms. His condition is currently stable.
During night monitoring of vitals on August 10 (Monday) it was found that Mandeep Singh's blood oxygen level was dropping below normal which indicated that he is moving from mild to moderate severity of COVID.
SAI authorities on campus took an immediate decision to shift him to SS Sparsh multispeciality hospital as a precautionary measure. His condition is currently stable.
All six athletes in NCOE Bengaluru who tested COVID positive were being monitored constantly and their vitals were being checked four times every day - in the morning, afternoon, evening and in the night before sleep.
Mandeep, according to SAI, was asymptomatic. “He is being administered treatment by doctors along with five players who have tested positive,” SAI said in a statement, adding that the 25-year-old was among the 20 players who had undergone a RT-PCR test while entering the facility last week.
According to the SAI doctors, all the othere players were showing only “mild symptoms” and are doing well. They are housed in the National Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru. The players were earlier stranded at the centre for over two months (till June) when a national lockdown was imposed to contain the virus. After coming back from the break, the players were in mandatory quarantine before resumption of training at the centre.
