Coronavirus Pandemic: Social Distancing Hasn't Caught Up With Chennai Yet, Says Ashwin

Coronavirus in India: Ravichandran Ashwin is convinced that the people of Tamil Nadu capital have faith that nothing will happen to them as they are not practising the drill.

Chennai: Team India senior off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin took to twitter to express his disappointment  with the way the people of Chennai have been handling themselves amid the COVID-19 outbreak. The health agencies have guided people to maintain social distancing to curb the deadly virus. However, Ashwin is convinced that the people of Tamil Nadu capital have faith that nothing will happen to them as they are not practising the drill. "Let me rephrase it, social distancing doesn't seem to have caught the attention of the people in Chennai yet. The only reason could be their belief in the summer to curtail it or just faith that nothing will happen. #Coronaindia," Ashwin tweeted on Sunday. With the IPL being postponed till April 15 due to the coronavirus outbreak, CSK skipper M.S. Dhoni left Chennai amid huge fanfare. It has become your home, sir!" Keep whistling, as #Thala Dhoni bids a short adieu to #AnbuDen," a tweet from CSK said with a short video of fans queuing up to get a glimpse of Dhoni as the former India captain bid adieu Earlier, India skipper Virat Kohli called on people to "stay safe and vigilant" amid the ongoing coronavirus outbreak. "Let's stay strong and fight the COVID19 outbreak by taking all precautionary measures. Stay safe, be vigilant and most importantly remember, prevention is better than cure. Please take care everyone," Kohli had tweeted last week. Till now, 110 confirmed cases of coronavirus have been reported in the country and two people have also their lives. As per the health ministry website, one person in Tamil Nadu has been reported to have contracted the infection.
