BCCI AGM: BCCI To Back ICC's Bid For Cricket's Inclusion In 2028 Olympics After Some Clarifications From IOC - Report

BCCI Annual Meeting: The contention for the selectors post will witness a tough competition between Chetan Sharma and Maninder Singh representing the North Zone. While the West Zone has pitted Abbey Kuruvilla, Ajit Agarkar and Nayan Mongia and from East Zone SS Das is the favourite for the selectors spot.

The Annual General Meeting (AGM) of Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is taking place in Ahmedabad, Gujarat today where plethora of issues including the announcement of three new selectors will be addressed. The AGM will be attended by BCCI President Sourav Ganguly, BCCI Secretary Jay Shah, IPL Chairman Rajeev Shukla, President of Hyderabad Cricket Association Mohammad Azharuddin and other BCCI officials. In BCCI's AGM meeting, the apex cricketing board has decided to back ICC's bid for cricket's inclusion in 2028 Olympics after some clarifications from IOC, a board source told PTI. BCCI Approves 10-Team IPL From 2022 Edition Now there will be 10 teams in the IPL from the year 2022. The decision has been taken in the BCCI AGM meeting held in Ahmedabad today. So far 8 teams have been playing in the IPL. Ten teams will have 94 matches in the IPL for which about two and a half months will be required Also, positions for three new selectors will be filled today. As per sources confirming ABP, the interviews for the selectors are already underway. It is understood that Ajit Agarkar, Maninder Singh and SS Das are the frontrunners for the coveted post. While the West Zone has pitted Abbey Kuruvilla, Ajit Agarkar and Nayan Mongia and from East Zone SS Das is the favourite for the selectors spot. In total 11 shortlisted candidates from three zones are being interviewed. In this BCCI AGM, the expansion of IPL teams is also likely to be discussed. It is learned that the IPL can have a 9  team tournament next year and then 10 in 2022. Stadiums in Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai are the usual suspects to be given affirmation. Meanwhile the world's largest cricket stadium in Motera and one in Dharamshala also can't be ignored. In total, 8 stadiums have to be finalised for the World Cup.
