Varuthini Ekadashi 2025 — Know The Parana Timings, Rituals, And More

Varuthini Ekadashi is being observed today; the ritual fast is traditionally broken during the auspicious timing of Dwadashi. Here's everything you need to know about the fast and parana.

Varuthini Ekadashi 2025: Varuthini Ekadashi, one of the most auspicious and benevolent Ekadashis in the Hindu calendar, will be observed this year on Thursday, April 24, 2025. It is believed to be a spiritually uplifting day that purifies the soul, grants liberation from past sins, and brings immense joy to devoted followers.

According to Hindu scriptures, those who observe Varuthini Ekadashi with full devotion are absolved of even the gravest misdeeds. The significance of this day is highlighted by the tale of King Mandhata, who attained heaven due to the effects of this Ekadashi. Similarly, King Dhundhumar also found his place in the divine realm by observing this sacred fast. The merits of this vrat (fast) are believed to equal the rewards of performing ten thousand years of penance.

Varuthini Ekadashi Vrat Parana:

While the Ekadashi fast is observed on April 24, 2025, the Parana — the ritual conclusion of the fast, will take place on April 25, 2025 (Friday), during the Dwadasi tithi.

Parana Timing:

The ideal window to break the fast is from 5:46 AM to 8:23 AM on April 25. It is considered highly auspicious to perform Parana before the end of the Dwadasi tithi, which concludes at 11:44 AM.

How To Perform Parana:

  • The Parana should be done after sunrise the next day (Dwadasi).
  • Begin the ritual by offering food to Lord Vishnu along with Tulsi leaves.
  • Consume only satvik (pure vegetarian) food while breaking the fast.
  • Donating food, clothes, or essentials to the needy before Parana is considered highly meritorious.
  • On this divine day, followers are encouraged to perform acts of charity, chant the name of Lord Vishnu, and practice restraint and compassion to fully reap the spiritual rewards of Varuthini Ekadashi.
