The Significance Of Thursday And Varuthini Ekadashi:

Typically, Ekadashi occurs twice a month. However, when Ekadashi coincides with Thursday, it is considered exceptionally auspicious. The reason lies in the significance of both these days in Hindu worship. Ekadashi is associated with Lord Vishnu, and Thursday, also known as Guruvar, is devoted to Lord Vishnu's blessings, making this combination particularly favorable. Observing the Varuthini Ekadashi fast and performing rituals on Thursday enhances spiritual benefits, granting devotees the grace of Lord Vishnu.

Religious Importance:

Astrologer Anish Vyas explains that when Ekadashi and Thursday align, the rewards of observing this fast are multiplied. The spiritual benefits are believed to be exponentially higher, ensuring that devotees receive the blessings of Lord Vishnu in abundance. Thursday is also dedicated to Brihaspati, the celestial teacher and symbol of knowledge, spirituality, and righteousness. Engaging in fasting, chanting mantras, or performing rituals on this day is believed to purify sins accumulated across lifetimes and lead to prosperity.

For those experiencing a "Guru Dosh" (defective position of Jupiter) in their birth chart, worshipping on this day, along with donating yellow items like gram dal, turmeric, mangoes, bananas, or gold, is highly recommended to bring good fortune.

Varuthini Ekadashi Rituals:

On April 24, devotees should wake up early, take a bath, and wear yellow clothing. After cleaning the temple area, prepare a sacred altar. Place an image or idol of Lord Vishnu on a cloth-covered platform. Apply yellow sandalwood paste to the deity and offer fruits, flowers, incense, lamps, and Tulsi leaves. Additionally, the Varuthini Ekadashi Vrat Katha (fasting story) should be recited, followed by the Arti (prayer).

Devotees should observe the fast and break it the following day, Friday, April 25, with the Vrat Paran (breaking of the fast).
