Pitru Paksha 2025: In Hinduism, Pitru Paksha is considered a highly significant period. This 15-day phase is dedicated to performing Pind Daan, Tarpan, and Shraddha rituals for one's ancestors. During this time, people pay homage to their departed forefathers.

It is believed that offering Shraddha during Pitru Paksha brings peace to the souls of ancestors, and in return, they bless their descendants. Performing Shraddha during this period is considered one of the most important duties in Hindu tradition.

Pitru Paksha 2025 Start and End Dates

According to the Hindu Panchang, Pitru Paksha is the 15-day period observed from Bhadrapada Purnima to Ashwin Amavasya. The final day of Pitru Paksha, known as Sarva Pitru Amavasya, also marks the beginning of Mahalaya.

In 2025, Pitru Paksha will begin on 7th September and end on 21st September. During this sacred period, rituals such as Tarpan, Shraddha, and Pind Daan are performed to honor and appease one's ancestors.

It is believed that performing these rites helps bring peace to ancestral souls and invites their blessings, which in turn bring happiness, prosperity, and harmony into the lives of the descendants.
