Holika Dahan 2025: When Will The Holika Bonfire Be Lit? Know The Bhadra Timing And More

Bhadra is present almost every year during Holika Dahan, but this time, it will last for 13 hours. Know the auspicious timing for Holika Dahan this year.

Holika Dahan 2025: Holi, the festival of colors, is celebrated with great enthusiasm across India. A day before the color festivities, Holika Dahan takes place, marking the victory of good over evil. According to the Hindu Panchang, Holika Dahan should be performed on the day of Falgun Purnima. However, this year, there is confusion regarding the date and auspicious timing for Holika Dahan due to the presence of Bhadra.

Holika Dahan 2025 Date And Bhadra Impact:

Astrologer Aneesh Vyas has stated that the full moon (Purnima) will begin on March 13 at 10:02 AM and end on March 14 at 11:11 AM. As a result, Holika Dahan is scheduled for March 13. However, there will be a 13-hour-long Bhadra period on this day, making it inauspicious for performing the ritual during the daytime. Hindu scriptures recommend that Holika Dahan should be conducted only during Nishita Kaal (late night) and when Bhadra is absent.

Bhadra's Presence On March 13:

On March 13, Bhadra will be present on Earth, which is considered unfavorable for auspicious ceremonies. As per Hindu beliefs, any significant event performed during Bhadra brings obstacles and negativity. Since Bhadra will remain until 10:36 PM, Holika Dahan should only be performed after this period.

Holika Dahan Auspicious Timing:

Considering the Purnima Tithi and Bhadra period, Holika Dahan should be conducted during the late-night hours of March 13. The best time for Holika Dahan is from 10:35 PM to 11:26 PM, providing a 1-hour and 9-minute window for the ritual.

When Will Holi Be Celebrated?

There is some confusion regarding the date of Holi celebrations. While Holika Dahan will take place on the night of March 13, the festival of colors will be observed on March 14 across most parts of India. However, in some regions, March 15 is also being considered for Holi celebrations based on the Udaya Tithi (sunrise timing), as Chaitra Krishna Pratipada will fall on March 15.
