Chhath Puja 2024 Evening Arghya Date And Time

On the third day of Chhath, during the Shashti Tithi of Kartik Shukla Paksha, offerings are made to Sun God at sunset. This year, the evening Arghya will take place on November 7, 2024. According to astrologers, the time for offering will be until 5:29 PM.

What Happens On The Third Day Of Chhath Puja

  • After Kharna on Panchami Tithi, on the Shashti Tithi, or the day of Sandhya Arghya, the Chhath devotees observe a full-day fast without water. On this day, consuming food or drink is prohibited. The fast is broken the following day, on Saptami Tithi.
  • The devotees, carrying a bamboo scoop or basket filled with offerings like thekua, konia, coconut, fruits, etc., perform a procession while offering arghya to the setting sun.
  • Before sunset, the devotees and their entire family reach the pond, river, or riverbank for the Sandhya Arghya. After that, they offer water and milk to Lord Bhaskar (the Sun God).
  • Along with this, worship of Chhathi Maiya is also performed. On the sixth day of Chhath Puja, there is also a tradition of staying awake through the night.
  • On the fourth day, the ritual is completed with the Usha Arghya after offering the Sandhya Arghya to the Sun God on the third day. The baskets and trays with fruits and offerings, which were worshipped on the sixth day, are taken to the riverbank again on the fourth day, where they are offered as part of the Arghya and worshipped.
