Apara Ekadashi 2025 — Know Significance, Puja Vidhi, And More For This Day

Apara Ekadashi falls on the 11th day of Krishna Paksha in Jyeshtha. Observing this vrat grants the merit of 100 yajnas. It is believed the Pandavas won the Mahabharata war by observing it.

Apara Ekadashi 2025: According to today’s Panchang, the 11th day of the Krishna Paksha in the month of Jyeshtha is observed as Apara Ekadashi or Achala Ekadashi. While many Ekadashis fall throughout the year, this one is considered highly auspicious and rewarding.

In 2025, Apara Ekadashi vrat is observed today, on May 23. On this day, devotees worship Lord Vishnu in his Trivikrama form or as Vamana Avatar. Today also features the Sarvartha Siddhi and Amrit Siddhi yogas, making it even more spiritually powerful. The Ekadashi fast parana will be on May 24, between 5:26 AM and 6:11 AM.

Apara Ekadashi 2025 Significance 

The significance of Apara Ekadashi vrat is described in the Mahabharata and various Puranas. According to scriptures, observing this fast helps fulfill all desires and absolves one of sins committed knowingly or unknowingly. Lord Shri Krishna himself praised the greatness of this Ekadashi and revealed its importance to the Pandavas. As per religious texts, after observing this fast, the Pandavas were blessed with victory in the Mahabharata war.

Apara Ekadashi 2025 Puja Vidhi

  • Take an early morning bath and wear clean clothes.
  • Ideally, bathe in a holy river. If not possible, mix a few drops of Tirtha Jal into your bathing water.
  • After bathing, meditate on Lord Vishnu and chant “Om Namo Vasudevaya Namah.”
  • Place a wooden platform facing the east direction, cover it with a yellow cloth, and install an idol or image of Lord Vishnu.
  • Sit on a clean yellow mat or cloth for the puja. First, place a water-filled Kalash and apply sandalwood paste to the deity.
  • Offer flowers, fruits, bhog, tulsi leaves, and other puja items, then light incense and a lamp.
  • Read or listen to the Apara Ekadashi vrat katha. Conclude the puja with an aarti.
