Delhi YouTuber Gaurav Sharma Arrested For Flying Dog With Hydrogen Balloons, Watch Video

The accused apologized over the video of his pet dog Dollar, and claimed he took all safety measures before making the video and was influenced by videos from abroad

New Delhi: A  YouTuber from Delhi Gaurav Sharma has been arrested over cruelty to an animal after he posted a video on social media where he floated up a pet dog in the air by tying hydrogen balloons on its back, risking its life.

DCP South Atul Thakur told the news agency ANI that the YouTuber was arrested on charges of animal cruelty after the social media video showed him floating his pet dog in the air by tying hydrogen balloons on its back. Now, the Delhi-based YouTuber has been arrested over the video. The accused, can be seen in a video made for his YouTube channel in which the pet dog is seen tied with balloons at a park in Delhi. While enjoying the inhuman act in the video along with his mother cheering, the poor dog is found to tied to several balloons and left suspended in the air for brief moments. 

He was quick enough to remove the video soon after receiving complaints by animal rights organisations. A complaint has been lodged against teh accused at the Malviya Nagar police station in Delhi after members of People For Animal (PFA) found out the video and raised an issue.

In fact, a case with the charges of animal cruelty has been lodged against Gaurav John and his mother under Sections 188, 269, 34 of the Animal Cruelty Act.

Even though the original video has been deleted, but Gaurav John later uploaded a new video on his YouTube channel stating that the previous video was removed. Sharma claimed he took all safety measures before making the video. " I got influenced by videos from abroad and I deeply apologize if anyone is hurt looking at the video of Dollar. I will never do this again and would request others to not get influenced by this act. I love my dog Dollar a lot and would want everyone to look at the moments I share with Dollar ever since I brought him to my house,' Sharma said in a apology video before his arrest. Meanwhile, a stray dog was beaten to death with rods by a three men in Okhla Phase 1 locality couple of days ago. The video has gone viral on social media with my dog friendly groups are trying to pin down the culprits for their heinous act. 

Earlier this week an old docile dog was packed in a plastic bag and dumped somewhere in Gurgaon. The perpetrators were security guards of Emaar Palm Drive, Sector 66, Gurgaon. After the visuals went viral and many celebrities condemning the act, a case was registered against the guards and other men involved. The security firm said that it fired the guards promising and ensuring their employees would be trained to be compassionate towards animals and birds and report such matters to animal rescue groups.
