White House sacks Trump's top aide, day after Melania called for removal

Donald Trump’s wife and the first lady of the United States Melania Trump had said that Ricardel did not deserve the honour of working for the White House.

New Delhi: Trump's deputy national security adviser Mira Ricardel was forced to step down from her post by the White after the first lady Melania Trump called for her firing. Donald Trump’s wife and the first lady of the United States Melania Trump had said that Ricardel did not deserve the honour of working for the White House. “She no longer deserves the honour of serving in this White House” Melania had said on Tuesday. Just a day later,  in a statement, White House press secretary Sarah Sanders said Ricardel is leaving her post and will "transition to a new role within the Administration." Ricardel had entered a spat with the First Lady and her staff over Melania’s trip to Africa in October and over the use of government resources for the trip, reports said. Ricardel has had several clashes with rest of White House staff too, Washington Post said, highlighting her frequent clashes with Secretary Jim Mattis. Ricardel had berated people in meetings, yelled at professional staff and argued with the first lady, it reported. National security adviser John Bolton had roped in Ricardel in April to serve as his deputy, hailing her “impressive” track record of successfully managing teams and diverse organisations, as well as addressing complex issues.
