Multiple People Shot At Morgan State University In US, Cops Ask People To Take Shelter

A shooting incident at the Morgan State University in US's Baltimore left many people injured. The police have asked people to avoid the area.

Multiple people were shot at Morgan State University in Baltimore in the US, police said as reported by the news agency Associated Press. The police have asked people to take shelter and avoid the area as officers rushed to the scene for an 'active shooter situation' on the campus.

“We’re asking everyone to shelter in place and avoid the area,” police said on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter.

Police spokesman Vernon Davis while talking to the Baltimore Banner said that at least four people were shot. The conditions of the victims were not immediately known though.

Police spokesperson Amanda Krotki also said that “multiple victims” were shot.

City Council member Odette Ramos took to X to ask the students and staff to remain sheltered. "There is an active shooter situation at Morgan State University. Students and staff are ordered to shelter in place and the public should avoid the area. We will send updates," tweeted Ramos.

As soon as the shooting broke out, panicked students went on social media platforms and posted that they were hiding in their dorm rooms.

Earlier in August, a gunman in the US shot dead three people and killed himself soon after. The incident took place in Florida's Jacksonville where the man entered a Dollar General store and opened fire which led to a standoff with police.

Sheriff TK Waters while talking about the incident said that the killer was believed to have acted alone and he allegedly wanted to kill himself.
