Shehbaz Sharif on Wednesday invited India to a comprehensive dialogue to address the bilateral issues, including the Kashmir dispute and the water distribution.

Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday said he was ready to engage in peace talks with India, days after the casefire between two nations amid Operation Sindoor.

Earlier on Wednesday, the Pakistani prime minister invited India to a comprehensive dialogue to address the bilateral issues, including the Kashmir dispute and the water distribution.

The latest remarks by the Pakistani PM comes as Islamabad said that the ceasefire between India and Pakistan has now been extended until May 18. Deputy Prime Minister (DPM) Ishaq Dar on Thursday said that the Director Generals of Military Operations (DGMOs) of Pakistan and India talked over a hotline to discuss the ceasefire and it has been extended to May 18.

Meanwhile, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar earlier in the day said that India's relations and dealings with Pakistan will be strictly bilateral, which is a national consensus for many years and there is absolutely no change in that consensus. He also said that the Indus Waters Treaty will continue to be held in abeyance until Pakistan credibly and irrevocably stops its support for cross-border terrorism.

India and Pakistan reached an understanding on May 10 to end the conflict after four days of intense cross-border drone and missile strikes.

India carried out precision strikes under 'Operation Sindoor' on terror infrastructure early on May 7 in response to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack that killed 26 people.Following the Indian action, Pakistan attempted to attack Indian military bases on May 8, 9 and 10.
