'We're Concerned': Pakistan's Statement After Pahalgam Terror Attack

Pakistan said it is concerned about the loss of tourists' lives in an attack in the Anantnag district. "We extend our condolences to the near ones of the deceased," the statement read.

Pakistan on Wednesday issued a statement expressing concern over the loss of lives in a terror attack in Kashmir's Pahalgam. Terrorists shot dead 26 people, mostly tourists, in Baisaran Valley. The victims include two locals and two foreigners.

"We are concerned about the loss of tourists' lives in an attack in the Anantnag district. We extend our condolences to the near ones of the deceased and wish the injured a speedy recovery," the Pakistan Foreign Ministry statement said.

The Chinese Ambassador to India, Xu Feihong, expressed shock over the attack, the deadliest since the 2019 Pulwama strike.

"Shocked by the attack in Pahalgam and condemn. Deep condolences for the victims and sincere sympathies to the injured and the bereaved families. Oppose terrorism of all forms," the Chinese Ambassador said in a post on X.

Pakistan Army Chief's Controversial Speech On Kashmir

Just a few days ago, Pakistani Army chief General Asim Munir raised the Kashmir issue and said "no power in the world could separate it from Pakistan."

General Munir had said India and Pakistan are two different nations, not one. He also invoked the two-nation theory and said India and Pakistan are different in every possible way.

"Our forefathers thought we are different from Hindus in every possible aspect of life. Our religions are different, our customs are different, our traditions are different, our thoughts are different, our ambitions are different. That was the foundation of the two-nation theory that was laid there. We are two nations, we are not one nation," he had said while speaking at an event.
