In a scathing statement that lit up social media over the weekend, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi took a sharp jab at both Israel and former U.S. President Donald Trump, accusing Tel Aviv of cowering behind American support to avoid Iranian retaliation.
Speaking on Saturday, June 28, Araghchi mocked Israel's response to recent regional conflict, saying it had no option but to “run to Daddy” — a pointed reference to Trump — to shield itself from Iran’s missile power. The remark, laced with sarcasm, echoed comments made earlier by NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte, who had ironically dubbed Trump “Daddy” in the wake of his explosive criticism of both Israel and Iran.
Araghchi didn’t mince words in his warning to Israeli leaders.
“The great and powerful Iranian people, who showed the world that the Israeli regime had no choice but to run to ‘Daddy’ to avoid being flattened by our missiles, do not take kindly to threats and insults,” he wrote on X (formerly Twitter). “If illusions lead to worse mistakes, Iran will not hesitate to unveil its real capabilities, which will certainly end any delusion about the power of Iran.”

Trump’s Vulgar Outburst Sparks Diplomatic Shockwaves
Araghchi’s remarks followed a controversial outburst by Trump during a recent live television appearance. While commenting on the tenuous truce, Trump vented frustration over renewed hostilities.
“Israel, as soon as we made the deal, they came out and they dropped a load of bombs, the likes of which I’ve never seen before… We basically have two countries that have been fighting so long and so hard that they don’t know what the fu*k they’re doing,” Trump said, in a moment that reportedly left even Israeli officials “stunned” and “embarrassed.”
Trump’s coarse language and tone drew a response from NATO’s Rutte, who jokingly referred to him as “Daddy” — a nickname that Iranian officials have now turned into a rhetorical weapon.
A Warning to Trump: Respect Iran’s Leadership
But Araghchi didn’t stop at Israel. He also fired back directly at Trump, urging him to stop using inflammatory rhetoric against Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
“If President Trump is genuine about wanting a deal, he should put aside the disrespectful and unacceptable tone towards Iran’s Supreme Leader, Grand Ayatollah Khamenei, and stop hurting his millions of heartfelt supporters,” he cautioned.
The statement came in response to a Friday post by Trump, in which he made the startling claim that he had once prevented the assassination of Iran’s highest leader.
“I knew exactly where he was sheltered, and would not let Israel, or the U.S. armed forces — by far the greatest and most powerful in the world — terminate his life,” Trump posted.
“I saved him from a very ugly and ignominious death, and he does not have to say, ‘Thank you, President Trump!’”
The comments have sparked a new wave of tension, highlighting just how delicate the balance remains in the Middle East — even with no official U.S. role in current peace negotiations.
