Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos becomes world’s richest person, surpassing Bill Gates

NEW DELHI: Amazon founder and CEO Jeff Bezos has dislodged Bill Gates as the richest person globally with an estimated worth of USD 90.6 billion, says Forbes.

Forbes estimates the wealth of Bezos, currently Amazon’s chief executive, at about USD 90.6 billion, compared with USD 90 billion for Gates.

"When markets opened on Thursday, Bezos had a net worth of USD 90.6 billion, putting him USD 500 million ahead of Microsoft founder Bill Gates," Forbes said. Bezos has become the seventh person to hold the title of the world’s richest person. He's also the third American to top the chart besides Gates and Berkshire Hathaway CEO Warren Buffett. Amazon’s market cap currently sits at USD 513 billion. Bezos own about 17 percent of the company.
