Multiple Explosions Reported Near Gurdwara In Afghanistan's Kabul

"The explosions hit a busy road near a Sikh-Hindu temple (Gurdwara) in Police District today in Kabul," eyewitnesses said.

New Delhi: At least two explosions shook Afghanistan's capital Kabul this morning, as per the media reports, news agency ANI reported.

"The explosions hit a busy road near a Sikh-Hindu temple (Gurdwara) in Police District today in Kabul," eyewitnesses informed China's Xinhua News.

Taking to Twitter, Afghanistan's Tolo News said, "The sound of explosions was heard in Karte Parwan area of Kabul city. Details about the nature and casualties of this incident are not yet known."

Earlier on June 11, several people were wounded after an explosion in Kabul.

"The blast took place at Batkhak Square in the 10th district of Kabul," Tolo News said in a Tweet.

"Earlier, on Monday, a blast took place in Kabul's Police District-4 with explosives carried on a bicycle," the Kabul security department said.

"Security forces have arrived in the area to investigate the matter," reported local media channel Tolo News.

Prior to this, three blasts rocked the capital of Afghanistan's Balkh province on May 25, killing at least nine people and injuring 15. On the same day, at least two people were killed in a bomb in Kabul's Masjid Sharif Hazrat Zakaria mosque, according to authorities.

In reaction to the assaults in Balkh and Kabul, Rina Amiri, the US Special Envoy for Women and Human Rights in Afghanistan, stated that the Taliban must secure people's safety and avoid crimes.

"The heinous attacks in Mazar & Kabul serve no purpose but to inflict further devastation on innocent Afghans who have suffered enough," Rina Amiri tweeted.

Earlier, inside the Hazrat Zekriya Mosque, an explosion at a traffic plaza in Kabul's fourth police district killed at least 30 people and injured many more.

The Taliban faced a serious security threat from ISIS's Khorasan branch, which has been operating in Afghanistan since 2014.

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres criticised recent strikes in Afghanistan that killed several people, including members of the Hazara Shia community and several children.
