The UM Renegade Classic has been priced at Rs 1.89 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) while the UM Renegade Commando Mojave retails for Rs 1.8 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) will all accessories. The two new additions expand UM India’s product lineup to four motorcycles along with the UM Renegade Commando and the Renegade Sports S which were launched last year.
The UM Renegade Classic was first showcased to Indian audiences at the 2016 Auto Expo, and, true to its name, gets classic cruiser motorcycle elements like chrome, spoke wheels and a large windscreen to protect the rider from wind blast at higher speeds. The Renegade Commando Classic will compete against the Royal Enfield Thunderbird 500.
As for the new UM Renegade Commando Mojave, which shares its name with the famous desert based in North America, it gets a distinctive sand-coloured shade and tank-mounted zippered pouch. The Renegade Commando Mojave rivals the Royal Enfield Desert Storm. Both the bikes feature USB charging point while saddlebags are an optional extra. Engine, frame, suspension and brakes on both the new bikes are similar to the older UM Renegade duo. The cruiser bike employs 41mm-dia telescopic front forks and twin hydraulic shock absorbers at the back.
Anchorage is provided by 280mm-dia single disc brake at front and 130mm-dia drum unit at the rear. Powering both the UM Renegade Classic and the Mojave is the new BS-IV compliant engine which has been updated with fuel injection. The single-cylinder, liquid-cooled motor delivers 25.1PS at 8500rpm and 23Nm of torque at 7000rpm. A 6-speed gearbox unit handles transmission duties. Both the bike features 18-litre fuel tank capacity and weigh 179kg.
