Telangana Health Minister Takes U-Turn On Decision To Take Covid Vaccine In The First Phase After PM's Warning
After PM Modi's warning, Telangana Health Minister Eatala Rajender decides not to take the vaccine, even though yesterday he said he would take it.
NEW DELHI: Telangana Health Minister Eatala Rajender has decided not to take the first shot of Covid-19 vaccine after declaring it on Friday. According to a report by NDTV, the minister has said that he has decided not to take the vaccine after receiving strict instructions from Prime Minister Narendra Modi that health workers will be first in line.
On Friday, the minister said that he will take the first shot of the vaccine to build confidence among people.
“To build confidence among people towards vaccines, I myself am taking the vaccine tomorrow. A total of 140 centres have been shortlisted for the distribution of the vaccine. The Chief Minister of Telangana K Chandrashekhar Rao has appealed to the MLAs, MPsand ministers to take part in the inauguration of the vaccine distribution programs at centres in their constituencies,” said Rajender in a report by ANI. He also said in the report that if the Central government releases more vaccines then even medical staff of private hospitals will also be vaccinated.
Media reports say that on Monday during a meeting with chief ministers of different states, the Prime Minister warned politicians of jumping the queue.

The PM today flagged off the first phase of the pan India rollout of the COVID-19 vaccination drive. Union Minister of Health & Family Welfare, Dr. Harsh Vardhan, said India's exercise to vaccinate its population against COVID19 shall be the world's largest immunization drive.
Manish Kumar, a sanitation worker got the first Covid vaccine of India. AIIMS Director Dr Randeep Guleria also took the vaccine shot.
