Maharashtra Politics: BMC Election Dates Announced, Alliance Talks Intensify in Maharashtra
With the Election Commission announcing January 15 as the polling date for the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections, political activity in Maharashtra has picked up pace. Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut has met MNS chief Raj Thackeray, with discussions focused on a possible alliance and seat-sharing arrangement for the crucial civic polls. The meeting is reportedly ongoing, signaling serious efforts to forge a joint strategy. On the other hand, the ruling Maha Yuti camp is also active, with meetings scheduled between the BJP, Shiv Sena (Shinde faction), RPI, and Ajit Pawar’s party to finalize their plans. With dates declared and negotiations underway across camps, new political equations are likely to emerge, making the BMC election a high-stakes contest.
