Tata Nexon Production Version Showcased at 2016 Auto Expo
Read the Tata Nexon first drive review here.
After a showcase at the 2014 Auto Expo as a concept, Tata Nexon has made another appearance at the 2016 Auto Expo. Though this time around, the production version has been showcased. This car will soon hit the Indian roads and will compete against the likes of Brezza, TUV300 and EcoSport. Many spy shots of the car had emerged, but Tata managed to camouflage the car rather well. Talking about the shape, Tata has managed to keep it pretty close to the concept, which was showcased at the 2014 Expo. The car looks promising and if priced right, will enable it to sell like hot cake.
Reportedly Nexon will be powered by a turbocharged version of the new all-aluminum 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol motor which Zica will debut, along with the new 1.5-litre diesel that belongs to the Revotorq family and similarly will debut with Zica's 1.05-litre diesel. This motor will be a lot more powerful than the 1.2-litre Revotron, which is powering Zest and Bolt. It is expected of the diesel mill to generate power equivalent to Duster's 110 PS variant. Transmission option can include a 6-speed manual for the diesel, while petrol is expected to get a 5-speed manual, all the while Tata might also offer an AMT option. Stay tuned for more.
On the inside, the instrument cluster is shared with Zica and Kite 5, apart from this, everything is brand new and undoubtedly one of the best cabins from Tata Motors. The compact SUV features a mounted touchscreen ConnectNext system.
