Sportier Looking Yamaha Ray ZR Street Rally Edition Launched

Yamaha India has launched the Street Rally edition of its sporty scooter, the Cygnus Ray ZR in the country today. The new variant comes in two colours - Rally Red and Racing Blue. This edition comes with a newly designed ‘Wing Style Fairing’ up front which draws inspiration from the Yamaha MT-09. The handlebar grips also feature deflectors, while the pillion grab rail gets a ‘Rising Air Tail’ design. The front fender and the rearview mirrors get a sporty makeover as well. Instrumentation is fully digital, and is similar to the unit found in the Yamaha Cygnus Alpha. Coming to the practicality aspect, the scooter features a 21-litre underseat storage and a front pocket that’s large enough to hold a 500ml water bottle.

The scooter continues to draw power from the 113cc air-cooled SOHC 2-valve engine that does duty in the regular variant. Yamaha says it has equipped the engine with a roller rocker arm which reduces horsepower loss. And paired with a Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT), the motor produces 7.2PS at 7500rpm and 8.1Nm at 5000rpm. Telescopic front forks and a single rear shock absorber handle suspension duties. A 170mm front disc and a drum brake at the rear take care of braking.

Speaking about the launch, Roy Kurian, Senior Vice President, Sales & Marketing, Yamaha Motor India Sales Pvt Ltd. said, “Yamaha’s Cygnus Ray ZR ‘Street Rally’ Edition perfectly combines power and style that makes it an aspirational buy. Continuing with Yamaha’s legacy to provide technologically advanced, sporty and stylish products, ‘Street Rally’ will bring excitement to scooter customers who look for sporty scooters with easy manoeuvring along with smooth power delivery. The globally known ‘Unique style of Yamaha’ that outlines any product innovation including the ‘Street Rally’ edition will help the brand to keep up its incremental ascent in the Indian two wheeler market.”

Priced at Rs 57,898, the Cygnus Ray ZR Street Rally Edition competes with Honda Dio DLX (Rs 53,837), TVS Wego disc brake variant (Rs 53,433) and Hero Maestro Edge (Rs 49,900) (all prices, ex-showroom Delhi). The Street Rally Edition will be available at all authorized Yamaha dealerships from the last week of this month.
