Scuffle Breaks Out Between Members Of Khap Panchayat Held In Support Of Protesting Wrestlers: Watch

Members of the khap panchayat involved in a heated argument that was held in Haryana's Kurukshetra in support of the protesting wrestlers.

A scuffle broke out between the members of ‘khap mahapanchayat’ held in Haryana's Kurukshetra on Friday in support of the protesting wrestlers. The meeting was being attended by representatives of various khaps and farmers' outfits who reached the Jat Dharamshala from different places, including Haryana, Punjab, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh to deliberate on the next steps to be taken in the agitation by the grapplers against their federation chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh over allegations of sexual harassment

In a video shared by news agency ANI, men in white kurta pyjamas could be seen involved in a heated argument.

Several farmers’ outfits have voiced their support in favour of the protesting wrestlers and held similar khap panchayats to decide the course of action pertaining to the wrestlers’ issue.

Farmer outfits had held a "khap mahapanchayat" in Uttar Pradesh and a series of protests in Punjab and Haryana on Thursday, showing solidarity with the wrestlers who have accused outgoing Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) chief and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh of sexually harassing female grapplers, including a minor.

Ahead of the mahapanchayat, Bharat Kisan Union leader Rakesh Tikait  said the wrestlers are the country's pride and all they are demanding is justice in the case, while speaking to reporters.

Tikait said while they are meeting at Kurukshetra, many organisations and khaps are holding meetings in other states, including Maharashtra and Rajasthan, to press for action against the "injustice being done to the country's daughters".

Star wrestlers Vinesh Phogat, Bajrang Punia, and Sakshi Malik have been leading the protest against Singh at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar. On Tuesday, the wrestlers had announced to immerse their medals in river Ganga but later changed their decision.

On Thursday, the 1983 cricket world cup Indian winning team also issued a statement urging the wrestlers to not take any “hasty” decision.
