New Delhi: After doctors advised him against joining politics, actor Rajnikanth said that he will announce his decision soon. Rajnikanth met senior office bearers of his forum, the Rajini Makkal Mandram on Monday and told them to continue their efforts in the meanwhile. A large crowd had gathered in front of the marriage hall at Kodambakkam since Monday morning. Fans showered flower petals on the actor’s car when Rajnikanth arrived at the venue. The meeting, attended by around 50 people including RMM district secretaries and state-level office bearers, started around 10 am and lasted around 90 minutes. "District office bearers expressed their opinions. They have said they will agree to whatever decision I take. Rajinikanth hasn’t given a time frame as to when he will likely give his decision. Rajnikanth announced last month his entry into politics may be delayed due to his health. His doctors cited concern over campaigning during the pandemic, the actor had been advised to restrict travel since he has a kidney condition and could be vulnerable to the COVID-19 virus. After the demise of the state's two most powerful politicians - J Jayalalithaa of the AIADMK and MK Karunanidhi, there is a vacuum ready to be filled and the growing suspense over Rajinikanth's electoral debut comes just months before the Tamil Nadu Assembly election, to be held in April-May 2021
