PM Modi Lays Foundation Stone For Projects And Inaugurates Projects Worth Rs 10,863-Cr
The initiative of the multi-village drinking water scheme is projected to provide clean drinking water to 15.85 lakh people in the Yadgir district
Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his visit to Karnataka's Yadgir district laid a foundation stone and inaugurated a slew of projects on Thursday. PM Modi laid a foundation stone for Yadgir multi-village drinking water supply project under Jal Jeevan Mission at Kodekal. The initiative of the multi-village drinking water scheme is projected to provide clean drinking water to 15.85 lakh people in the Yadgir district.
The project, which costs more than Rs 2,050 crore, will provide potable water to about 2.3 lakh households of more than 700 rural habitations and three towns of the Yadgiri district
Besides the drinking water project, PM Modi also inaugurated Narayanpur Left Bank Canal – Extension Renovation and Modernisation Project (NLBC – ERM), which cost upto Rs 4,700 crore. The project, with a canal carrying a capacity of 10,000 cusecs, can irrigate 4.5 lakh hectares of command area. It will benefit more than three lakh farmers in 560 villages in three districts — Kalaburagi, Yadagir and Vijaypur.

During the programme, the Prime Minister also laid the foundation stone of the 71 km section of National Highway 150C. This 6-lane Greenfield road project is also part of the Surat-Chennai Expressway. It will be built at a cost of over Rs 2,100 crore.
Surat-Chennai Expressway will pass through six states- Gujarat, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, and Tamil Nadu. It will reduce the existing route from 1600 Kms to 1270 Kms.
PM Modi while speaking at the inauguration event claimed that the 6-lane road project will improve connectivity in North Karnataka region, which will be useful for many people.
