PM Modi Holds 'Zero Hour' With Top Leaders To Review Covid Management, Govt Schemes & Upcoming Polls

Suggestions of each minister adopting one district or village to monitor the implementation of government schemes were raised by PM Modi.

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a meeting with senior BJP leaders and ministers to discuss about the current Covid situation, its management and development.

The week-long ‘feedback session’ was attended by ministers from various departments and fields, along with top officials like Home Minister Amit Shah and party President J P Nadda.

As revealed by some BJP sources, the session saw the presence of Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar, Civil Aviation Minister Hardeep Singh Puri, Jal Shakti Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, Fisheries and Animal Husbandry Minister Giriraj Singh, IT Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad, and Health Minister Harsh Vardhan as part of five groups that faced the review.

In the light of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, the session is believed to have discussed heavily over the topic of management of the virus and the execution of schemes and other developments.

Talking to ThePrint, a source close to the party revealed, “He [Modi] is basically reviewing performances, filling gaps, and alerting cadre and colleagues for upcoming challenges… ‘don’t feel crisis is over and get complacent’ is the message.”

A minister present in one of the meetings, while requesting anonymity said, “It was like zero hour, where he [Modi] asked for genuine feedback and gave tips for more effective governance… his thrust was for better capacity augmentation for future challenges.”

While the session reviewed the work done during the second wave, there were also discussions on the shortcomings of government initiatives and gaps in the Covid vaccination drive.

According to sources, PM also held talks with Home Minister Amit Shah and party President J P Nadda about cabinet reshuffling and party’s organisational affairs across states, as BJP readies for the upcoming elections.
