Must Have Accessories For The Suzuki V-Strom 650XT

We list down a few accessories that we could expect for the newly launched Suzuki V-Strom 650XT to make it more adventure ready

The much-anticipated Suzuki V-Strom 650XT has finally made its way to India and while that’s exciting news as it is, there’s no mention of any additional accessories being offered alongside the bike. While that seems like a downer, we could expect the Japanese brand to soon launch some accessories in India that are already available in the international market.

Notably, Suzuki already offers a three-way adjustable windscreen, a DC outlet, knuckle guards and an engine cowl as standard on the V-Strom 650XT variant. However, if you would like to go above and beyond with your bike to make it more adventure friendly, we would suggest the following accessories that’ll get the job done.

Three-piece luggage system and tank bag -

If you and your partner are adventure junkies who like hitting the trail every weekend, the 55L top case would be the ideal option. The larger top case that has been recently introduced in the V-Strom family can easily accommodate up to two helmets at a time or haul luggage weighing up to 5kg. However, the sheer volume of the case doesn’t allow side cases to be used at the same time. So be sure to get this one only for weekend joy rides and not for long distance journeys.

And, if you have a bad case of wanderlust, we would recommend going for the 35L top case which could easily accommodate one helmet and would also work in tandem with the side cases which lets you store more luggage. Additionally, you could throw in a tank bag that makes accessibility easy for your important essentials that are constantly in use.

*The side cases and the 35L top case each have a loading capacity of 3kg.

Touring windscreen -

While the standard three-way adjustable windscreen might do a decent job at reducing windblast and buffering, there might be certain cases where the standard screen just isn’t enough. For that reason, Suzuki offers a taller windscreen that features a 7-Fold adjustable spoiler further reducing of windblasts.

Low seat -

The V-Strom 650XT comes with a standard seat height of 835mm which might be problematic for vertically challenged riders. And, if you’re a relatively short rider, you could opt for a lower seat (815mm) which drops the height by 20mm. This would not only prevent you from tiptoeing but also give you more confidence while riding.

Crash guard -

If you love your bike, a crash guard is a must-have accessory. It not only takes the brunt of the fall but also protects expensive components that would cost you a bomb to fix.

Accessory bar and auxiliary LED fog lamps -

If you love touring, it's a given that you would inevitably hit patches of roads or highways that are poorly lit. Now, you wouldn’t want to end up with a road kill, would you? Also, considering that you’re on two wheels rather than four, there are high chances you losing control of your bike after you hit something.

Auxiliary LED fog lamps would provide that extra illumination one needs to see clearly ahead of him/her even in poorly lit conditions. Unfortunately, the V-Strom 650XT doesn’t come with any prefixed mounting points for auxiliary lamps, so we would suggest buying the accessory bar along with the lights for hassle-free fitment.

Aluminium skid plate -

If you intend to take the V-Strom 650XT off-road, you’re bound to hit bad patches of roads, loose debris or stones that could easily damage the most crucial part of the bike, the engine. The standard engine cowl won’t do justice in this cases and one would require a studier bash plate that could take a beating. The aluminium skid plate offered as an optional extra should do the job.

Centre stand -

A centre stand might sound like a silly accessory, but it’s an absolute must for heavy adventure tourers like the V-Strom 650XT. Try oiling the chain, changing a flat tyre or loading heavy luggage onto one of these bikes using just the side stand and you would realize just how important the centre/main stand is.
