Mercedes-AMG GLS 63 Launched In India At Rs 1.58 Crore
Mercedes-Benz has launched one of its most powerful SUVs, the AMG GLS 63, in the Indian market at a price of Rs 1.58 crore (ex-showroom Pune). It is one of the quickest SUVs in its segment and can reach the 100 kmph mark from standstill in just 4.6 seconds. Let's see what this SUV has on offer.
The Mercedes-AMG GLS 63 comes with the signature AMG brand look and high quality interiors. It has LED headlights with integrated LED DRLs, panoramic sliding sunroof, 21-inch alloy wheels, red brake callipers and AMG body styling. When it comes to the interiors, it has AMG performance steering wheel wrapped in black Nappa leather, temperature-controlled cup holder, multicontour front seats with heating and massage function, Harman Kardon Logic 7 surround sound system and electrically foldable third-row seats. However, the Mercedes-AMG GLS 63 has been launched under the Mercedes-Benz ‘designo’ platform, which means the customers can choose from a number of customization options and personalise the SUV according to their taste.
The AMG badge means the primary highlight of the new SUV is its engine. The Mercedes-AMG GLS 63 has a 5.5-litre V8 BITURBO petrol engine under its hood which produces a maximum power of 584.6PS and a maximum torque of 760 Nm. The monstrous engine is coupled to a 7-speed automatic transmission which sends power to all four wheels. However, the all-wheel drive system is rear-biased, and the torque is split in a 40:60 ratio between the front and rear axles.
The SUV also has AMG Ride Control sports suspension with roll stabilisation which helps to provide high-level driving dynamics and comfort at the same time. This is an SUV for those who want everything from their vehicle–style, luxury, sportiness and performance.
Mercedes also introduced the AMG G 63 in the country today, and with this, the German automaker has a total of eight SUVs on offer in the Indian market. The AMG GLS 63 will primarily compete with SUVs like the Porsche Cayenne and the Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT.
