The meeting assumes significance as Adityanath reportedly discussed the formation of next Cabinet in Uttar Pradesh with Prime Minister Modi.

New Delhi: With the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) conquering the throne of Lucknow yet again, Uttar Pradesh chief minister-designate Yogi Adityanath met Prime Minister Narendra Modi at his official 7, Lok Kalyan Marg residence in the national capital on Sunday.

The meeting assumes significance as Adityanath reportedly discussed the formation of next Cabinet in Uttar Pradesh with Prime Minister Modi.

Earlier in the day, the Uttar Pradesh chief minister-designate held meetings in this regard with several senior BJP leaders, including party general secretary (organisation) B.L. Santhosh, in the national capital.

Set to take oath as the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh for a second term, Adityanath is also likely to meet Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and BJP president J.P. Nadda.

The discussions during the meetings are likely to centre around a host of issues related to the government formation.

There are also reports suggesting that several fresh faces may be inducted into the Cabinet this time.

Earlier on Friday, Adityanath held a meeting with his ministerial colleagues at the party office in Lucknow following the BJP’s magnificent victory in the assembly elections.

Adityanath will be the first chief minister in the last 37 years to return to power after completing a full term in the state.

The BJP won 255 assembly seats in Uttar Pradesh. The saffron party’s allies Apna Dal (S) and Nishad Party bagged 12 seats and six seats respectively.

The Samajwadi Party came a distant second winning 111 seats and its alliance partners Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party and Rashtriya Lok Dal got six and eight seats respectively.
