'Would Only Comment After Knowing Everything': NCP Leader Jayant Patil on Ajit Pawar's Resignation
When asked to comment on Ajit Pawar's resignation, NCP's Jayant Patil, said he won’t comment on Pawar’s resignation until he gets to know everything about it
Mumbai: In a dramatic turn of events, Ajit Pawar resigned as Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra soon after the Supreme Court ordered for a floor test to be conducted in the Maharashtra assembly tomorrow. The development comes as a big shocker for the BJP, which was confident of winning Wednesday's Assembly floor test.
Meanwhile, when asked to comment on Ajit Pawar's resignation, NCP's Jayant Patil, said he won’t comment on Pawar’s resignation until he gets to know everything about it.
"It's you from whom I have come to know about the resignation of Ajit Pawar. I don't know about it, I would like to make a comment on it only after getting to know everything about it," said Patil.
Moments before the Ajit Pawar’s resignation, Union Minister Ramdas Athawale said that the NDA doesn't have the majority yet while reposing faith on the NCP rebel.
“We respect Supreme Court's order of carrying out a floor test tomorrow. NDA doesn't have the majority yet, I am sure we will get it by tomorrow as we trust Ajit Pawar that he will bring his MLAs,” Athawale told ANI.
All major political parties in Maharashtra will hold meetings with their legislators at different venues to discuss Wednesday's course of action and coordination during the floor test.
In a hush-hush ceremony on Saturday, Fadnavis and Ajit Pawar were sworn in as CM and Deputy CM, respectively, by Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari.
The Fadnavis government was formed at a time when deliberations among the three parties on government formation had reached the final stage. The urgent plea filed by the trio sought a direction to conduct an immediate floor test.
The floor test is a constitutional mechanism under which a chief minister can be asked to prove majority in the state Assembly.
