World Environment Day: PM Modi To Address Event On ‘Save Soil Movement’ On Sunday
As per the press release by the PMO, ‘Save Soil Movement’ is a global initiative to increase awareness about deteriorating soil health and bring about a conscious response to remove it.
New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address an event on the ‘Save Soil Movement’ at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi on Sunday at 11 am on the occasion of World Environment Day, said the Prime Minister’s Office on Saturday.
As per the press release by the PMO, ‘Save Soil Movement’ is a global initiative to increase awareness about deteriorating soil health and bring about a conscious response to remove it.
The press release added, “The movement was started by Sadhguru in March 2022, who embarked on a 100-day motorcycle journey passing through 27 countries.”
June 5, which is celebrated as World Environment Day, also marks the 75th day of the journey started by Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev.
Prime Minister’s participation in the programme will be reflective of the shared concerns and commitment towards improving the health of the soil in India, PMO said in a statement.
World Environment Day
World Environment Day is led by United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and is annually celebrated on June 5 since 1973. It is the largest global platform for environmental public outreach and is celebrated by millions of people across the world. This year it is being hosted by Sweden.
Theme
The theme for this year’s World Environment Day is Only One Earth which is being promoted with the #OneEarthOnly.
The motto of this year’s theme is “In the universe are billions of galaxies, In our galaxy are billions of planets, But there is #OnlyOneEarth. Let’s take care of it.”
As per UNEP, the 2022 World Environment Day campaign #OnlyOneEarth calls for collective, transformative action on a global scale to celebrate, protect and restore our planet.
